At Goodland Tech, we’ve pioneered a unique “tech talent farm team” model inspired by the baseball farm system.
Just as farm teams cultivate and develop promising players, we guide the next generation of tech talent through immersive skill development programs. OUR FOUNDERS
Richard Sparrow, co-founder of Goodland Tech, started his technical career in software startups, progressing to leadership roles in both startups and Silicon Valley enterprises. He managed his own consulting company, leading remote teams that completed significant projects for major clients such as Deutsche Bank, Amdocs, LendingTree, and Convergys. Richard’s collaboration with Ben Coumerilh in 2011 led to the first Mobile Application Development Program for a two-year college. Richard’s passion for transforming lives and communities through technology was a cornerstone of Goodland Tech. His untimely passing in 2023 is a profound loss, but his legacy of innovation, dedication, and belief in the potential of people and communities continues to inspire the company.
Ben Coumerilh, co-founder and CEO, began his technology career in 1999. He served as a Technology Director at a civil engineering company in St. Louis before moving to Kansas in 2007. At Northwest Kansas Technical College, he pioneered the nation’s first one-to-one iPad initiative for a two-year college. In 2012, Ben transitioned to the Goodland School District, where he launched a groundbreaking K-14 coding initiative. His dedication to educational innovation and community advancement has significantly enhanced technology opportunities in Goodland. Ben’s work focuses on developing local talent in technology to attract new companies and foster community growth, bringing educational and technological opportunities to Northwest Kansas and other rural communities.
